The party takes the wagon to Laketown to find the best way to tackle Darken Wood. Ace gets drunk and starts talking about his previous engagement on the way there. Before he became a thief, he was engaged to a girl named Yuna, whom he only saw as a sister. Vodren, in the conversation, then adds that he has no memory of his family and only a fear of fire.

They are welcomed warmly by the inhabitants of Laketown, and they find a guide for Darken Wood Mogwen and his dog Laurana. He offers his services for coin and a night spent with Amethyst.

Billie spills her story to Vodren that night at the local inn, revealing the scar on her neck. At a young age, her village was destroyed by goblins leaving her for dead.

The next morning the party goes out into the woods. They pass a landmark of a circle of fallen stones. As they travel, they encounter a wild boar. Vodren, using his abilities as a cleric, manages to pacify it, avoiding the encounter,

As the party continues, they come across the zombified corpses of the party that fled the inn. Upon seeing the undead for the first time, Ryai’s heart stopped as he collapsed to the ground. In the chaos, Vodren becomes terrified of Mogwen’s dog, watching her jaws snap as he barks.

Vodren pushes through his newfound phobia of the dog and rushes to Ryai’s side, stabilizing him from his apparent heart attack. Konguq and Billie then double-team the undead, using magic and a blade to destroy them. Once they have been defeated, the wild boar returns to eat the bodies.

After the harrowing encounter, the party settles down for the night. A tree named Old Man Willow approaches Vodren and recognizes him as a cleric of the old gods. The tree gives Vodren an acorn to plant at the Stone Circle, which the party passed earlier.
